2018 FIFA World Cup
The Volgograd Arena was hosting four matches in the group stage at Russia 2018, including England's opening game against Tunisia on 18 June. During the World Cup, the Volgograd Arena had a maximum capacity of 45,000 spectators.
Specially for the World Cup in Volgograd was built a new stadium. The stadium's facade takes the form of an inverted, truncated cone with an open lattice structure, lending the arena an extra element of airiness.
